JAGELON GUARD A watch for WordPress sites

A watch on the walls of your website

One stray noindex and Google quietly moves out of your site. The sentry walks the walls every quarter of an hour and raises the alarm before your traffic falls.

The statute of the watch

What the sentry guards

Each article is a separate watch. On its first round the sentry records the state of your walls, then compares every later round against that record.

ARTICLE I

Gates shut to Google

Noindex across the whole site or on key pages, including the one switched on with a single click in Settings.

ARTICLE II

No entry in robots.txt

A Disallow: / rule, and any change to robots.txt since the last round.

ARTICLE III

A false coat of arms

A canonical that is missing, doubled, changed, or pointing to someone else’s domain.

ARTICLE IV

Titles rewritten

A page title removed or replaced — for example by a theme update nobody connected to the drop in clicks.

ARTICLE V

The map of the realm

A sitemap that stops answering, or suddenly loses URLs that matter.

ARTICLE VI

Breaches in the wall

New HTTP errors on pages that worked yesterday. A single stumble of the server does not raise the alarm.

ARTICLE VII

Retreat from the field. With a standing watch the sentry also follows your positions in Google and warns when key phrases fall — even though the walls still stand. The figures come from your own Google Search Console, not from scraping results, so they are official and they are yours. Search Console reports with a two to three day delay, so this article warns of a trend, not of the same morning.

The round

From installation to the first alarm

The sentry only looks. It never changes your content, your settings or your files.

I

Muster

Install Jagelon Guard from the WordPress.org directory, like any other plugin.

II

Oath

Paste a one-time key. The plugin connects for your own domain only.

III

Watch

The first round records the reference state. Every round after it, each quarter of an hour, compares the walls against it.

IV

Herald

The alarm lands in the chronicle inside your WordPress dashboard, and in your inbox.

Charters

Choose the rank of your watch

The plugin is free to download and runs entirely on your own server. A licence starts the standing watch, run from outside, every quarter of an hour.

Repairs are not a rank. If the sentry finds a breach you would rather not patch yourself, write to the Chancery and we will quote the work separately.

Questions

What people ask before they muster.

Can the plugin break anything?

No. The sentry reads your pages the way Googlebot does. It writes nothing to your site.

Will it slow my site down?

The rounds run on the Chancery’s server, not inside your WordPress. The plugin panel only shows the chronicle.

What if I change my site on purpose?

Confirm the change in the chronicle with one click and the sentry adopts the new reference state.

Does the watch fix problems itself?

No. It points to the breach and its exact place. You repair it yourself, or commission the Chancery.
